Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
